detrimental effects of Black Hat SEO Techniques

Keyword stuffing is the primary characteristic of Black Hat SEO. There are many sites competing for top positions in search engines; After building your site, insert exact keywords in the title and meta tags but do not overdo it otherwise you will be penalized by search engines.

Crosslinking

Using Cross Linking (IBL or multiple links from and to your site from other sites)is bad because most search engines will place very less value on those links. Most of the sites that offer link exchange services are doing this to acquire link popularity and not because they have original content. It is one of the unethical Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques. Using one way links with sites with a high PageRank is also bad as mentioned earlier.

Keyword Stuffing

Keyword stuffing is one of the unethical SEO techniques. Aggressively submitting your site to hundreds of search engines is another aggressive SEO technique. If you submit your site to search engines automatically you will be penalized by search engines.

Certain "tricks" can help your website to rank high in search results: invisible keywords, identical pages, doorway pages, implementing keyword phrases in file names despite constraints.

You can read more about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) by visiting the SEO section of our website which explains further how to implement on-site SEO and analyzing the progress of your rankings.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be defined as the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to your web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Organic traffic is traffic from "natural" search results and can only be achieved by implementing SEO techniques.

spider (SE) (Search Engine Bot)

Another name for a "crawler". The focus of a SE spider is to follow links on a page to another page. It will then download that page and process the information on the page. If a SE spider comes to your site and does not detect any useful content or does not have proper HTML code then it will not return the information back to the search engine. It will simply return your site as millions of other sites with the same idea and will not give you the ranking as you want.

If you want to rank better than your competitors then you need to have your keyword density not greater than 3-5% so that the SE can index your site properly. This is where i come in with my eight important tips:

1. Use low pressure keywords- For example, I want to put an ad in the classifieds section of a website that says "Corporate gifts for any event and budget". Thus, instead of using the words "gift", " classification", "gifts" and "for" in the meta tags title, i want to use the words "corporate gifts you need to give today". So, my ad would read " Corporate gifts: we have the most professional gifts money can buy." As you can see, I did not use the words "for" or "to". It is proven that search engines read and index the title tags, and this is what the meta tag "Title" tag is all about.

2. consistencies- Be consistent in what ever you post. If you want to get a great result, then you need to post your message 1000 times a day to 20 times a week. Example " executives gifts " and " corporate gifts to Executives in the chain of command".

3. choose a keyword- The keyword of your choice should be the one that you think most people will use to get to your website through the search engine. There are tools that can help you with choosing a keyword. It is better to choose the name of a product instead of keeping it as your actual keyword. Like ".(name of product) product".

4. discover the 3 reasons why your competitors are ahead of you in the ranking. – This can be done through a keyword tool, or a competitor checker.

5. think outside the box- Be creative, think of something completely unique, think of a unique product. Why not make it unique?

6. product display- product display is simply having a photo of your product on one page. It is common for a person to click on a site with a picture. Why not take advantage of this unique opportunity?

7. follow/no follow questions- it is important to know who visits your site, what they do on the site, and how strong they are. This is used to determine the PageRank of your website.

8. Robots.txt file- this file tells the search engines what to do with access to your website, in technical terms, it's a file.
